Welcome to our new Waitakere Alpacas website. This site is still under construction so if you require further assistance or can't find what your looking for, feel free to send us an email via the contact page or call us on our land line.We do have 200 plus alpacas so not all of our great animals are listed in the site. We have animals to suit all budgets and needs, so please contact us with your enquiries.
Alpacas are lovely, friendly gentle and easy to farm. With a small amount of basic animal husbandry, they can be ideal pets for a lifestyle block or small farm. We have over 200 Alpacas on the farm, many of which are for sale .Our Alpacas are from top blood lines from Australia and Peru.
Hans Roecoert, the Owner/Farmer of Waitakere Alpacas, has a wealth of knowledge about Alpacas, which he is willing to share with prospective purchasers. He sells Alpacas locally within New Zealand, and also to Europe, for which Hans runs an export quarantine facility. Waitakere Alpacas’ Stud males are also available to perform stud services around New Zealand.
Waitakere Alpacas moved to South Head in March 2007.Since then,Hans and his team have worked hard to turn the farm into a show piece for Alpacas.
Waitakere Alpacas offers several ways for the public to experience life on an alpaca farm .We accept bookings for group visits, offering two or more hours of fun, laughter and learning .We have a shop with goods made from Alpaca fibre, and related products. The shop opens for tours, and by arrangement.We also have a B & B Farmstay. Hans is developing a Fashion Label of clothes made from Alpaca fibre.
Each of these facets of the business are represented on this website.

Thank you to the 200 people who attended our open day,it was a lovely day and lots of fun was had by all. We had 20 new cria to watch in a paddock, and some wethers for people to get up close with. Hans was kept busy doing lots of carding and felting demonstrations, and Sharon was busy with her spinning and talking.If you want to buy some of these lovely animals, please contact us for a follow-up visit.
We will be having more shop open days on Sunday 21st November, and again on Sunday 12th December for you to come and buy your Christmas presents. We will be open 10am till 4pm on those days.
We raised $138.20 for the West Auckland Hospice, and got a lovely thankyou letter from them- so thanks to all of you who helped in this fund raising effort.
Ozzejan the wether alpaca was a great hit, and enjoyed being led around by everyone.

We had a very successful Royal Easter show.Our alpacas did very well, and Hans won a medal himself-Awarded for Excellence at the Royal Easter Show, Best in Show Suri Exhibitor ! He was delighted. This is a large show, the competition draws the top animals in the country, so any prizes are highly regarded.
Canchones Signature had a First place, Waitakere Andor had a second place.
Waitakere Anita had a First Place and a Champion ribbon.
Waitakere Damica had a First Place .
Waitakere Decarlos had a Second Place,.
Waitakere Diamond a Third Place.
Waitakere Chado won Second Place and Reserve Champion.
Waitakere Cherokee won 1st Place and a Champion Ribbon.
Waitakere Jiovanni won Second Place.
Pinjarra Top Gun, at the age of 8 years, won a second Place.
